WHAT IS LIFE COACHING?

 

Put simply, life coaching takes you from where you are, to where you want to be.

 

It is a transformational process grounded very much in the present moment, but is outcomes-focused and action-oriented.

Coaching provides space for you to explore your vision and purpose, define your goals and increase your own self-awareness by turning your attention and awareness inwards. Through a process of questioning and experiential exercises you’ll gain clarity on your desires, motivation and priorities, and feel inspired and empowered to take action to bring your vision to life.

 

It is a partnership where I as the coach help to facilitate your journey. You remain fully responsible for your input, action taken and outcomes.

 

Life coaching is not therapy, but it can be therapeutic. Life coaching IS life changing so as with any period of transformation, it’s likely that some uncomfortable thoughts and feelings might arise. Together we’ll master your mindset and look at any self-doubts, judgment, fears, internal criticism, unconscious programming or limiting beliefs that might arise and devise strategies, and apply tools to deal with these. We’ll bring these into the bright light of awareness, and begin to transmute them so they won’t hold you back from manifesting your vision.

 

What Can We Cover in Our Sessions?

 

Anything you want. During our sessions, nothing is off-limits and the time is yours: I will fully listen to you, and hold a safe space for you to download and express what you truly desire to feel, be and achieve.

 

Each client is different so you may choose to focus on a uncovering your purpose or passion project, or more specifically career, business, health or relationship goals. Whatever area (or multiple areas) you want to work on is fine, it’s YOUR space and your time!

 

Once we’re clear on WHAT it is you want achieve, and WHY it’s important to you, we’ll work together to set some actions that will move you towards those goals (HOW it’s going to happen).

 

How Often Do We Connect?

 

Coaching is delivered in a series of online sessions delivered over several months (typically over 3 months, or 6 months) to ensure accountability, consistency and momentum.

 

For example, over the course of three months we would have 1 x 90 minute and 5 x 60-minute fortnightly coaching sessions via Skype/phone. The series seems to work best if we can schedule it for the same day and time every fortnight: your bi-weekly date with destiny!

We connect with video conferencing online via Skype/Zoom, or via telephone. The video capabilities allow us to see and interact with each other, just as if we were sitting in the same room. The advantage is that, there is no extra travel time required, you can be in the comfort of your own home, or wherever there is a stable internet connection, and pants are optional!).

 

Our sessions are 60 minutes long, but the first session is up to 90 minutes as we explore your questionnaire together and set your goals.  

 Pre-Questionnaire:

 

Prior to working together I will ask you to fill in a questionnaire. The questionnaire forms the starting point of our coaching series and will help you to clarify the areas that you want to work on, and to help me understand your motivations. 

I suggest allowing yourself an hour or so to really dig deep when completing the questions, and using this as an uncensored journaling exercise in which you curiously explore and open up – you may be surprised by what comes up!

 

For some clients, the questionnaire can be a little triggering as it can bring items into our conscious awareness. It can be confronting to see the gap between where you currently are, and where you want to be, but that’s the reason you’re seeking a life coach: to close the gap.

 

Of course whatever you share with me is held in the utmost confidence and is completely free of judgment, our sessions together are a safe space to explore, heal and grow. Please don’t discount anything that comes up because you feel it’s “too big”, “too much”, “too crazy”, or “too (insert limiting thought here)”!

 

Your dreams are part of your life’s journey and purpose: there’s no reason why they can’t be brought to life.

I am here to help you uncover your truth and to stand beside you as you take action towards your vision.

 

The Coaching Sessions:

 

In our first session we’ll explore the answers to the questionnaire and dig deep to set 2-3 inspiring goals that we’ll work on throughout the series. The goals will move you towards what you want to feel, experience and achieve.

 

For each goal you’ll set 2-4 inspired actions that you’ll work on in the fortnight between each coaching session. The actions are designed to stretch and motivate you forward, and I’m there for accountability and support, but we won’t set anything that you don’t want to do or can’t reasonably achieve within the two week period.

 

At our next session we check in and see how you’re progressing with your goals by celebrating your successes, or unpacking any resistance or blocks that are holding you back from taking action.

We’ll review your current actions and progress, discuss options and then set some new actions for the next two week period.

 

In between our contact sessions I offer unlimited email support, worksheets, recommendations and resources and am there to answer any questions that may arise and to ensure you get the most out of our series together.

 

Then finally we celebrate you achieving your goal and living a life that lights you up!
